This ongoing project centers around a piece of wood from an ornamental cherry tree that died in my garden approximately 16 years ago. For years, the cut stems of the cherry tree have been lying outdoors, slowly decaying. I’ve decided to bring new life to one of these old wood pieces by reintegrating it into the garden in a meaningful way.
The garden, which has a few wild corners, is home to various insects and birds. My goal is to transform this piece of wood into a multifunctional feature that benefits not only the garden’s wildlife but also its human visitors. The concept involves restoring the wood to serve three main purposes: an insect nesting site, a bird nest, and a garden lamp.
